This has been a long month. Long, as in, Zoey only had school for 10 days - the entire month - due to snow and ice. Long, as in, we were forced to be on a schedule and then off a schedule and then back on again. Long, as in, it was too cold or too icy to go or do much of anything. It. Was. Brutal.
But we survived.
Zoey celebrated 100 days of Kindergarten (a few weeks late) and being 100 days smarter. Her teacher did an A-W-E-S-O-M-E job of celebrating the day. Her class also earned a "Compliment Collection Party" and were able to wear their pajamas to school and eat popcorn and pizza. We love us some Mrs. Fillette.
Kaia got 100 days smarter at home, playing school and dress up all the live-long day. Her favorite owl dress was worn at least twice a week - every time it came out of the laundry. Sadly, I just packed it away in the 2T bin for storage. When she realizes that, it's going to be a sad, sad day.
We said "see you later" to our favorite Hay Hay, who left February 19th to serve an 18-month mission for our church. She is learning Spanish at the Mexico City Missionary Training Center, and then she'll spend the rest of her time in Salem, Oregon. We're so happy for and proud of her. I didn't really cry until Zoey got emotional... then I kind of lost it. We'll miss her.
And I've been busy with mommyhood and teaching seminary. We had all 14 of our students to our house for breakfast this month. They are awesome. I love them.
It is with not much sadness at all that we close out this long, cold month.
Here's hoping for spring!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for teaching my daughter every morning. Seminary is such a hard thing to do in the cold/dark winter, but so very important. Seriously, THANK YOU!
Only 10 days of school?! Holy Mama, that's got to be rough. And go you teaching seminary! Love your blog D!
See!...this is what is so great about blogging...(I know for most it has become a thing of the past, but I think it's so valuable) It's wonderful to chart day to day happenings and special events as well as helping others get to know your family. It would be hard to get all of these details into a conversation at church...
It's a good sign that everyone is smiling in the seminary photo...Even the teachers! Does this mean there's hope for smiles from me next year, too, as I begin the early commute with Jake? I'm very panicky about the whole concept...
