We were extremely blessed to have 5 straight weeks of help after Kaia was born. The Seguine family cared for Zoey the entire week of Kaia's birth. They loved her and spoiled her and made sure she looked cute every time she visited the hospital. They also brought us flowers and gifts galore! Brian took off work for the week of the birth, a time I will always, always treasure and for which I will long. And then my sister Lara came for the following week. In my opinion, the week following a C-section is worse than the actual C-section. I can't lift, drive, go up and down stairs, not to mention sleep or sit comfortably. Lara was a HUGE help and had to arrange schedules for the three boys she left at home, for which I am so, so grateful. After Lara my mom came and stayed for almost two full weeks. There is something about a homemade meal by mom that makes everything seem better. Then Melissa came for two whole weeks (overlapping with my mom for one) and made us tons of yummy food and cleaned my house frequently. Last came Dianne, Brian's mom, who played and played with Zoey and held Kaia while I napped every day. THANK YOU for coming and THANK YOU for everyone who helped you and/or allowed you to come.
So, today was my first day alone with the two girls. The success? I ran a quick errand with Zoey and Kaia and we all made it home in one piece! No meltdowns (by me or the girls), no potty accidents, no rude people - just a normal, quick errand out and back. BY MYSELF. WITH TWO KIDS. Please be impressed with my small success.

I am impressed. You are amazing! And you have a great family.
Wahoooooo! That is no small task. You are amazing, I'm so glad you had a good outing!
I am seriously impressed. No joke. You'll have to give me your secrets. I'm totally nervous about that!
I am so impressed! I bet all that help was great... but now you can enjoy the time you have with your sweet family. We need to come visit sometime soon... getting 3 people's schedules aligned has been a challenge so I may stop by myself. I'm so anxious to see you and Kaia!!!
It was truely a pleasure to be with you & yours (I love you all so much). Congrats on your errand out. The first one is momentous and soon you'll be going all over town like an old pro. You're awesome. Take one day at a time and really try to sleep.
I'm never leaving my house after this baby arrives.
You are my hero.
Miss ya!
What? No commentary on how well Maya and Zoey played together?!
As the prospect of having ONE child draws nearer, I find myself wondering how I will be able to do even the simplest things once she arrives. I congratulate you on your success with TWO!
Congratulations! I didn't have a c-section so my first outing with two kids took place 3 days postpartem (Starbucks, because I'm CRAZY). :) You are so blessed to have such a loving and helpful family. As we wrestle with the thought of baby #3 we have to come to grips with the fact that he will likely be deployed for that birth...can I adopt your siblings as my own at that time???
You can adopt us any time, Melissa!
Congrats. It is always a hard transition. I still haven't gone anywhere alone with my three. One day I will and I am going to treat myself to something wonderful. I am glad you got so much help. It is also hard when everyone leaves. I am glad you are doing so well.
SO impressed!!! You rock!
